About ms. atkinson
"Why did you want to teach English?"
Simple. I love reading. I also love writing. But more importantly I love the community we build when we read and write. I feel books give us insight and exposure to worlds, cultures, and experiences we may otherwise never encounter in our physical lives. And that's pretty cool.
Five Fast Facts:
My favorite books
The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald
The most beautifully written novel in history, in my opinion, about the fine line between our dreams and our demise.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Seemingly part comic-book, part child's fairytale, and part horror story, this illustrated novel shows us how to deal with loss and grief. It also beautifully illustrates the power of stories. After all, "Stories are the wildest creatures of all."
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
The only book that made me sob like a baby and audibly yell out of devastation. Also the book that made me fall in love with YA fiction. This story proves that no matter how limited our time in life, we have the power to connect deeply, wholeheartedly, and completely with those around us.
